Committee Name: Labor, Industrial and Rehabilitative ServicesPosition: Member
Committee Function:It shall be the duty of the Committee on Labor, Industrial and Rehabilitative Services to consider all matters relating to labor, wages, and workers' compensation including unemployment compensation and incentive programs, collective bargaining and binding arbitration; matters relating to job retraining and employee rehabilitative services and other matters relating to balancing the rights of employees to the needs of the industrial sector; and such other matters as may be referred to it.
Personal Biography
Kris has been a dedicated public servant, political consultant, community organizer and activist for over 20 years, with a life-long commitment to economic justice and democratic values.
She was a political consultant on political campaigns in New Hampshire and throughout the U.S., for candidates running for positions from mayor to president. She also advised AARP, Americans for Healthcare, and Reform Immigration for America. She served as Executive Director of the NHDP.
She worked for the AFL-CIO's international headquarters in Washington, DC, and for three labor unions.
She worked in the official office of three members of congress in Washington and the Mayor of Louisville.
She has built strong ties with New Hampshire's communities of faith, from local congregations to statewide organizations. She worked for the NH Council of Churches and the NH Bible Society. She served as the President of the Greater Concord Interfaith Council and is a Catholic.
She volunteers actively with organizations that address the needs and concerns of new Americans; especially those arriving in Concord as refugees, people facing homelessness, and families grappling with poverty.
She holds a B.A. in Political Science from the School of Public Affairs at American University in Washington, D.C., and studied Criminology at the Department of Sociology at the University of Louisville in Kentucky.
Local Government Involvement
Elected to the Concord City Council for her first term in 2023, and serves on the following committees: Solid Waste Management, Everett Arena, Ad Hoc Beaver Meadow Golf Course Clubhouse and 200th Anniversary Planning.
She served as a Ward 9 Supervisor of the Checklist for 16 years ending with the 2024 State Primary.
Miscellaneous Information:
Kris is the granddaughter, daughter, sister, daughter-in-law, wife, cousin, and niece to countless labor union members, including SEIU, the Teamsters, the IAM Machinists and the Building Trades. She has lived in Concord's Ward 9 with her husband Gene Taylor, and their dog Louis Brandeis since 2008. She enjoys strategy board games, playing the guitar, knitting and writing about pop culture.
