POWERS OF THE GOVERNOR AND COUNCIL IN CERTAIN CASES

Observances Proclaimed by Governor

Section 4:13-h

    4:13-h Gold Star Mother's and Family's Day. –
I. The governor shall annually issue a proclamation calling for the proper observance of the last Sunday in September, which shall be known as Gold Star Mother's and Family's Day, recognizing and honoring all mothers and families who have lost sons or daughters while on duty in the United States armed forces. The governor shall urge the citizens of the state, and its cities, towns, and municipalities, to observe this day with appropriate events.
II. Notwithstanding RSA 3:4-a, II, the governor may choose to honor Gold Star families by ordering the Gold Star Flag to be displayed on the grounds of the New Hampshire state house and at the New Hampshire state veterans cemetery in Boscawen on that day as described in paragraph I. The flag, if displayed, shall be flown in the most junior order of precedence. The flag shall be provided at no cost to the state of New Hampshire.
