NOTE:

The Department of Business and Economic Affairs was established pursuant to 2017, 156:40, effective 7-1-17, which adopted RSA 12-O. Other provisions of 2017, 156, effective 7-1-17, amended references in the statutes to replace the Department of Resources and Economic Development with the Department of Business and Economic Affairs, or they repealed statutes relative to the Department of Resources and Economic Development to effectuate the changes in the new RSA 12-O.

The Department of Resources and Economic Development was abolished pursuant to 2017, 156:15, effective 7-1-17, which amended the establishment clause RSA 12-A:1 to delete the reference to the Department of Resources and Economic Development and establish a new agency, the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources. The Department of Cultural Resources was also abolished pursuant to 2017, 156:37, LIV, effective 7-1-17, which repealed RSA 21-K. Various other sections in 2017, 156, effective 7-1-17, either amended other statutes besides RSA 12-A:1 to refer to the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources, or they repealed statutes which had referred to the Department of Resources and Economic Development or the Department of Cultural Resources.

Pursuant to 2017, 156:49, effective 7-1-17, “existing rules of the department of resources and economic development shall continue in effect and be enforced by the commissioner of the department of natural and cultural resources or the commissioner of the department of business and economic affairs, as applicable, until they expire or are repealed or amended in accordance with applicable law.”
